The Beacon just kicked off Goblin's Gambit Season 1, and there's a 7,700,000 $BCN reward pool & special cosmetics up for grabs. Whether you're just registering for the first time or trying to figure out the most efficient way to play, here's a complete breakdown so you don't miss out.

What Is The Beacon and Goblin's Gambit?

The Beacon is a Web3-integrated action game built around dungeon runs, seasonal reward pools, and an in-game economy that lets you earn, trade, and compete for real token rewards. Goblin's Gambit is the name for Season 1. It's the first major season with a structured $BCN reward pool in play.

The 7,700,000 $BCN prize pool is the headline number here. Season 1 centers on chest collection as the core progression mechanic:
- the more chests you open,
- the more rewards you stack, and
- the deeper you get into the $BCN economy.

It's designed so that both casual players and more serious grinders have a viable path in. You don't have to go all-in on the token economy to enjoy the game.

This is a live season, so the clock is ticking. If you've been on the fence about trying The Beacon, this is the moment to actually get in.

How to Register (and Grab Your Free Loot)

Registration is straightforward, but there's one thing worth flagging upfront:
use a referral code.

If you register with one, you get 50 Gobloonz and 1 Umbra Chest dropped into your account for free. Umbra Chests are one of the core reward containers in Season 1, and getting one on day one gives you a head start without spending anything.

You can register directly at app.thebeacon.gg. If you don't have a referral code handy, you can use mine: ANNAZ. It'll get you those free items on signup.

The registration process itself is quick. You'll link a wallet or create an account depending on your setup, and you're in. New player onboarding is clean enough that you won't spend 20 minutes trying to figure out what you're doing before your first run.

Where to Play The Beacon

The Beacon runs on PC. There's two ways to access it:

Browser: Head to app.thebeacon.gg and play directly in-browser. No download required. Good if you want to jump in quickly or you're on a machine where installing a new client isn't an option.

The Beacon Webapp

Epic Games Store: The game is also available via Epic as a playtest build. If you prefer a native client experience or just want it in your Epic library, grab it here. Performance is smoother on the native client from what I've seen, especially during dungeon runs where frame consistency actually matters.

There's no mobile client for Season 1, so desktop is your only option right now. Worth keeping in mind if you were hoping to play on the go.

How to Play: The Three Chest Paths Explained

The Goblin's Gambit season mechanic is built around collecting chests. There are three chest types: Umbra, Kraken, and Giant.

There are three corresponding paths to earn them:

Path 1, Umbra Chests (via Dungeon Runs):
Play dungeon runs → earn Umbra Shards → convert Shards into Umbra Chests.
This is the most gameplay-driven loop. You're actually in the dungeon, running content, and the chests are your reward for time invested. Umbra is the entry tier in the chest hierarchy, but it's also the most accessible route for players who want to earn purely through play.

Dungeon run gameplay

Path 2, Kraken Chests (via Kraken Klash):
Earn Umbra Shards → convert them into Gobloonz → use Gobloonz to compete in Kraken Klash → earn Kraken Chests.
This path introduces a competitive and luck-based layer on top of dungeon grinding. Kraken Chests sit above Umbra in the reward tier, so if you're chasing better drops, this is where you push after establishing your Shard income.

Kraken Klash gameplay

Path 3, Giant Chests (via Glint purchases):
Buy Glint (the premium in-game currency) → unlock Giant Chests directly.
Giant Chests are the top tier. This path is the most direct but involves real money. It's primarily aimed at players interested in the open market side of The Beacon which is trading in-game items, flipping assets, engaging with the token economy more seriously.

The chest tier hierarchy goes: Glint (Giant) > Kraken > Umbra. Higher tier = better and rarer potential rewards.

Which Playstyle Should You Choose?

Honestly, there isn't one "correct" answer here. It depends on what you actually want out of the game. Here's how I'd frame it:

Go Dungeon Runs only if you love roguelike mechanics and just want to play the game on its own merits. You'll grind Umbra Shards, open Umbra Chests, and participate in the season without worrying about the market or competitive layer. It's the purest gameplay path, and for players who came for the dungeon experience first, this is where the fun is.

Add Kraken Klash if you want to push further into the reward tiers and you're comfortable with a mix of skill and chance. You'll need to be converting your Shard income into Gobloonz and competing to add the potential for meaningfully better chest rewards. This is recommended for those that want to take chances for better rewards. If you like gacha games, you'll like Kraken Klash.

Go Glint → Giant Chests if you're here specifically for the open market and item trading angle. This path is essentially a direct buy-in to the top reward tier. It makes the most sense if you understand the economy, have a trading strategy, and are treating The Beacon more like a market than a game.

You can mix and match approaches as the season progresses. Nothing locks you into one path permanently.

Is The Beacon Season 1 Worth Your Time?

If you've been sitting on the sidelines waiting for a reason to try The Beacon, Goblin's Gambit Season 1 is that reason. A 7,700,000 $BCN reward pool is a meaningful incentive, the free loot on registration lowers the barrier to entry, and the multiple chest paths mean there's a viable loop for different types of players. It's not just the crypto-first crowd.

The game itself holds up. The dungeon run loop is satisfying enough to stand on its own, which matters if you're skeptical of Web3 games that feel like the gameplay is just window dressing for token mechanics. The Beacon isn't that.

My recommendation: register now (grab the free Umbra Chest), spend your first few sessions on dungeon runs to understand the Shard economy, then evaluate whether Kraken Klash is worth layering in once you've got a feel for the game. Don't go straight to buying Glint until you know what you're doing with it. Or Perhaps just focus on the dungeon runs only!

Season 1 is live. The pool is there. Go get some of it.
